Private Cooking Classes

Enjoy a feast for the senses and host a private kitchen party demonstration style cooking classes. Fill your belly with inspiration, expand your culinary repertoire and gather your friends in a fun and casual setting. Try something different for your next dinner party, birthday celebration, interactive team building experience, family reunion or staff party.

Private cooking classes: $640 for 8 people. Each additional person $80.00 per person up to 13 people.

Spanish Tapas/French Bistro.

Bring a little Oh là là and delicioso into your kitchen. French cuisine is famous for the rich tastes and subtle nuances with long and rich history. Spanish cuisine is influenced by the people who, throughout history, have conquered the territory of that country. Enjoy a little of everything and satiate your taste buds. Papas Bravas, Gambas with Sherry, Paella di Valencia, Beef Tartare, Classic Salad Nicoise. Spanish hot chocolate.

Spices and Flavours from India.

Transport yourself to another world and turn up the sizzle with this perennial cooking class favorite. Chicken Tikka Masala, Pilau Basmati Rice, Garam Masala, Fresh Mango Chutney, Papadums and Raita.

Opa! Greek Farmhouse

The most characteristic and ancient element of Greek cuisine is olive oil, which is used in most dishes. Learn about the transformation from seed to the tree to the oil from an expert and a small olive grove owner. Witness as Chef George uses olive oil to create the distinctive taste of Greek food. Based on the staples of the mediterranean diet this class diverse flavours will satiate your taste buds and inspire you to create these dishes at home. Cretian salad, slow cooked garlic spiked roast lamb with lemon oregano potatoes, flambeed ouzo prawns and traditional walnut and honey pudding with vanilla ice.

Comfort food at it’s best. Tender Roast Chicken, Roast Potatoes, Immaculate Vegetables, New York Striploin Steak, Smooth Velvety Mash, deconstructed Caesar Salad and quick light fluffy Chocolate Mousse.

As a crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa, the Middle East has long been a hub of food and recipe exchange. Figs, dates and nuts were brought by Arabian warriors to conquered lands, and spices were brought back from the Orient. Drawing on her Crimean roots and recipes pasted along from her mother, this cooking class is straight from Elana’s heart. Entertaining, educational and delicious. Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Dates stuffed with chèvre, Lebneh, Shukshuka, Pomegranate molasses chicken, Seasonal vegetable salad with lemon/tahini dressing.

French cooking doesn’t have to be bourgeoisie or snobby. It’s about mastering basic techniques, combining flavors and creating taste sensations. Basic French Cooking is what most amateur chefs learn first. The techniques and methods of cooking are unique yet very easy. With the basics, you will have the confidence to create amazing French meals on your average weeknight.
Seared scallops with sauce vierge, Lyonnaise salad, Duck or rack of lamb with a gastique sauce, Seasonal vegetables, Pommes frites and Profiteroles with ice cream and chocolate sauce. Note: Group consensus required on protein choice.

Kitchen Party: Italian Techniques. Available April and June, 2016 only.

Italy is heart of many revolutions in the culinary world. Although Italian cooking is regional in nature, there are techniques which will help you cook like a local. Owing to its peasant roots, classic Italian cooking is inherently simple. Learning the methods of cooking from Italy will help you create meals even a nonna would approve of. Focaccia, Bruschetta, Garlic shrimp, Panzanella salad, Risotto and Chicken Cacciatore.

Whether you just had a bummer of a day or craving the ultimate evening of cozy noshing by the fire, a plate of good old-fashioned comfort food can be both the cure and celebration for all of life’s ups and downs. Chef Elana’s nourishment for the soul menu… Rack of lamb, duck breast or chicken Parmesan, French fries, scalloped potatoes or risotto, Jelly filled doughnuts, apple crisp or fudge brownies. Note: Group consensus required on main, starch and dessert choice.   • 8 guest minimum and 13 guests maximum.

In order to respect our overnight guests, Cooking @ The BOX events that have not booked the entire lodge

  • Cooking @ The BOX events start at 6:30 pm or earlier and end promptly at 9:30 pm.
  • Cooking @ The BOX events take place primarily in the kitchen and dining area with limited use of the lobby.

Wine and Beer

  • House wine or corkage fee is available.
  • Wine selected and sommeliers provided by the Canmore Wine Merchant. Local beer provided by Grizzly Paw Brewery.
  • Wine by the glass ($8.00) and bottle ($35.00).
  • Grizzly Paw Beer ($5.00)
  • Corkage ($15.00/bottle) or set group corkage rate of $15.00 per person.
  • Private cooking classes with wine pairings: additional $100.00/evening + wine costs.
  • Private cooking classes with Sommelier led wine pairings: additional $250.00/evening + wine costs.
